Local Officials Day at the Legislature 2019
ULCT is excited to announce that registration is NOW OPEN for the 2019 Local Officials Day at the Utah State Legislature!
This year Local Officials Day is offering a new format of events that will provide various interactive opportunities to learn about civic engagement and leadership. We’ll gather at the Utah State Capitol in the morning for a buffet style breakfast and an optional break-out sessions and challenges including:
- “Taking the ‘Dis’ Out of Civil Discourse”
- “Your Voice for Change”
- “Youth Lobby = Change for Future”
- “Click Here: Social Media and Data Collection”
- “Mock Legislative Committee Hearings”
- Issue “Speed Dating”
- Capitol Quest Scavenger Hunt
Youth councils participating in the mock legislative committee hearings can learn more about it here.
ULCT is partnering with Silicon Slopes to host the programming at the Salt Palace as a sneak peek to their tech summit. We will have briefings for elected officials and then our combined lunch (local officials, legislators, and youth council groups) will feature Governor Gary Herbert, ULCT President/St. George Mayor Jon Pike, and Clint Betts from Silicon Slopes.
In a unique cooperative effort Silicon Slopes will con tribute to our Local Officials Day event, giving registered attendees access to the Tech Summit, also at the Salt Palace, which opens the following day.
